The Good Beer Guide 2025 – let's celebrate! The 52nd edition of the Good Beer Guide is due to be published on 26 September 2024, and the Herts Essex Borders branch will be celebrating all the pubs and clubs included in this year’s Guide with launch event on the day of publication.

The names of the pubs in this year's guide are embargoed until 25th September, so at the moment all we can say is that the launch will take place in a pub in Bishop's Stortford starting at 20.00. The name of the venue will be on our Facebook page and website on the morning of 25th September.

This will be a chance to congratulate not just the venues included in the Guide, but also the many volunteers that dedicate their time to helping select the best of the best that made it into the Guide this year. The event will include small nibbles and it will give space to talk about the GBG and pubs in our area.

The Good Beer Guide 2025 will be available to purchase with not one but two covers featuring two of the UK’s favourite locals: Coronation Street’s Rovers Return Inn, and Emmerdale’s Woolpack. These fictional pubs represent the familiarity and community spirit of pubs across the UK. This edition of the Guide pays tribute to the communities that are beamed into homes, providing entertainment and companionship to those that may not have a local pub of their own.

Research commissioned by CAMRA found that people who have a local rate themselves as significantly happier because of it, and have more close friends, and the pubs on television reflect this feeling. Some of Coronation Street’s and Emmerdale’s most iconic, touching and memorable moments have taken place in their respective pubs.
